A kosher iPhone. The one you already have.
You do not need a second phone or a factory reset. filttr turns an ordinary iPhone into a locked kosher phone while keeping your photos, apps, messages and settings.
“Kosher phone” used to mean a basic phone that could call and text and not much else. That is no longer the only option. A regular iPhone can be set up so that what it can reach matches the standards of the person carrying it — and still be a useful phone.
What makes an iPhone kosher?
There is no special kosher model of the iPhone. A kosher iPhone is the same hardware, configured so the internet, apps and images are controlled. The important differences are how strong the filter is, who can undo it, and whether everyday tools still work.
- The browser is filtered or limited to approved sites.
- Only approved apps can be installed or opened.
- DNS and network-level filtering are forced on.
- The profile cannot simply be removed by the user.
- Someone responsible can review requests and make changes.
No factory reset. No new phone.
Many people assume a real filter means erasing the phone. filttr is built around the opposite idea: use the phone as it is. Setup prepares the iPhone, installs the managed filter and locks it, without wiping your data. Your photos, contacts, messages, apps and settings stay where they are.
What stays working
A good filter should be quiet in daily life. Calls, messages, maps, banking, email, work apps, weather and Torah sites can keep working, depending on the level you choose. The point is not to make the phone useless; it is to remove what does not belong and keep the rest.
Levels for different people
One phone might be locked to a short list of apps with no browser. Another might keep a filtered Safari and a wider set of tools. A bochur, a parent and a baal habayis may each need a different standard. filttr manages each device separately, so you do not have to choose one setting for the whole family.
How the lock works
The phone is supervised during setup, which lets filttr apply restrictions that a normal profile cannot. The filter is locked on, the App Store is controlled, DNS is forced, and common bypass routes are closed. Updates are pushed automatically, so you do not have to plug the phone in again.
Getting started
Sign up, run filttr Setup on a Windows computer, and connect the iPhone. The setup takes a few minutes. If you would rather not do it yourself, contact us for full-service setup — we can prepare the phone and choose the right level with you.
Frequently asked questions
Do I have to erase my iPhone?
No. filttr is designed to work on the phone you already have, without a factory reset. Your data stays.
Can I keep my apps?
You choose which apps are allowed. Existing apps can be kept when they fit the level; the App Store can also be restricted so new apps need approval.
Is this only for kids?
No. filttr is used by adults, bochurim, families and mosdos. Each device can have its own level.
What if I need a site later?
Request it from your filttr page. Clear requests can be answered quickly; sensitive ones go to a person.
Ready to protect the phone?
Set it up yourself in minutes, or contact us and we’ll handle the whole setup.
