No factory reset

Kosher iPhone without a factory reset.

You do not have to wipe your phone to filter it. filttr is built to work on the iPhone you already have, with your photos, apps and messages staying in place.

The factory-reset myth comes from an older way of filtering phones: erase the device, set it up again under supervision, and start from scratch. It works, but it costs a day, loses data if something goes wrong, and makes people avoid the process.

What filttr does instead

filttr Setup prepares the iPhone for management while keeping the existing data. It supervises the phone, installs the managed filter and applies the restrictions. The result is a filtered device, not a new one.

  • No erase and no restore from backup.
  • Photos, contacts, messages and apps stay.
  • The filter is locked on after setup.
  • Updates are pushed later without the cable.

What does change

The phone becomes supervised, which is what allows the filter to be enforced. Some settings, apps or websites may be restricted according to the level you choose. The App Store can be limited, DNS is forced, and common bypass routes are closed. Those changes are the point — but they are applied without wiping the device.

Is it as strong as a reset?

A supervised setup is what gives the filter its strength, not the erase itself. The important parts are the management profile, the restrictions, the locked removal and the ongoing updates. filttr applies those to the existing phone.

Who should still reset?

If a phone already has a hand-installed profile, a broken management state, or a configuration that prevents supervision, a reset may be the cleanest path. That is uncommon, and we will tell you if it is needed before you start.

How to start

Sign up, install iTunes if needed, and run filttr Setup on a Windows computer with the iPhone connected. The process takes a few minutes. If you want us to do it with you, contact us for full-service setup.

Frequently asked questions

Will I lose my photos or messages?

No. The setup is designed to keep your data. It does not erase the phone.

Do I need a backup?

A backup is always sensible before any device change, but a factory reset is not part of the normal filttr setup.

Why do some filters require a reset?

Older methods set up supervision from scratch. filttr prepares the existing phone for management instead.

Can I keep my current Apple ID?

Yes, in the normal setup. Your account and data stay with you.
